FINANCIAL INFORMATION
Virginia Cancer Institute participates with many insurance plans that are
available in central Virginia. We make every effort to keep abreast of the ever
changing medical insurance environment. If you have a question regarding your
insurance, we will be glad to research it for you if we cannot answer it
immediately.
Many insurance policies require that you receive a referral from your primary
care physician before you can be examined by a specialist. It is your
responsibility to obtain a referral from your primary care physician, if a
referral is required by your insurance plan. If you are unable to obtain a
referral, you will need to make alternative payment arrangements or reschedule
your appointment.
Payment of any applicable co-payments, co-insurance, or deductibles is expected
at the time of service. If Virginia Cancer Institute does not participate with your insurance plan, or if
your insurance does not cover our services, or if you are a self pay patient,
payment in full is expected at the time of service, unless other payment
arrangements have been made in advance.
As a courtesy to the patients of Virginia Cancer Institute, we will file the appropriate claim forms with a
maximum of two insurance carriers for all services performed by our physicians.
Please note that it is your responsibility to make certain that your account
with Virginia Cancer Institute remains in good standing. We ask for your
assistance or the assistance of your employer if insurance clarification is
needed.
We understand the emotional and financial stress that you and your loved ones
may be experiencing and, if requested, we will make every effort to assist you
by establishing a mutually acceptable payment schedule. As dictated by the terms
of our contracts with insurers, we cannot, however, waive payments or
co-payments.
For your convenience, we accept checks, money orders and Visa and MasterCard. If
you have other questions or concerns about your statement, please call our
Business Office.
