Education helps patients increase their knowledge and understanding of their
illness and treatment, thus easing fears, and prepares patients with appropriate

The relationship between the physician and patient intensifies when a patient experiences pain. The patient relies on the physician to select the correct treatments and medications to best relieve the patient's pain. The physician relies on the patient to report their pain accurately and to take their medications correctly. Our Licensed Clinical Social Worker serves as a patient advocate by providing the following:
- Information and referrals to community resources
- Information and assistance obtaining governmental and work-related benefits such as social security disability, Medicare and Medicaid
- Family conferences to discuss care options, living arrangements and planning
- Identifying alternative sources for financial assistance for
treatment-related expenses.
